Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C.
Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. is an American situation comedy that originally aired on CBS in September 25, 1964, to May 2, 1969. The series was a spin off of The Andy Griffith Show, and also the pilot had been referred to because the fourth season of The Andy Griffith Show's finale on May 18, 1964. The series ran for five seasons and an overall total of 150 events. Back in 2006, CBS homeentertainment began releasing the series on DVD. The season premiered in November 2008.
Aaron Ruben, who also produced the series with Ronald Jacobs and Sheldon Leonard created the series. Filmed and set in California, it stars Jim Nabors as Gomer Pyle, a naive but attendant from town of Mayberry. Frank Sutton plays Gomer's Highoctane, short-fused Gunnery Sergeant Vince Carter, also Ronnie Schell plays Gomer's buddy Gilbert"Duke" Slater. Allan Melvin played in the recurring role of Gunnery Sergeant Carter's rival. The series never spoke nor treated the then-current Vietnam War, alternatively focusing on the relationship between Sergeant and Gomer Carter. High ratings were retained by the series .
