The daughter of a right-winger, school girl Jing Qiu (Zhou Dong-Yu) is sent into the countryside to get re education, and tasked to help write a text book. There she meets Lao San (Shawn Dou), a soldier with a glowing future ahead. Despite the class divide and civic disapproval, romance blossoms against times.
