Her poor father sells Lalu into marriage in 1880s China. Lalu ends herself in an Idaho gold-mining town, owned by a saloon owner who renames her China Polly and wants to sell her as local entertainment. Lalu, refusing to be a whore, eventually finds her way in this weird land of white demons.
