Writer Paul Benjamin is hit by a bus when he leaves Auggie Wren's smoke shop. Stranger Rashid Cole saves his lifeand soon middle-aged Paul informs displaced Rashid he wouldn't obey a housemate that is short-term. Still grieving over his wife's murder, both Rashid's pursuit to reconnect with Auggie's discovery and his father which is going to give birth moves Paul.
