Jean de Florette
At a rural village, an old man and his only comparative throw their covetous eyes onto an adjacent land. They so are dismayed to hear that the man who has it is moving in, and need its own spring water for growing their flowers. As their neighbour attempts to keep his crops watered from wells throughout the summer they obstruct up the spring and watch. They all think only of having the water, though they see his desperate efforts are breaking his health as well as his wife and daughter's hearts.
