Inventor David Kressen has lived in seclusion with his creations, for example Adam, a robot using lifelike qualities. After reporter Joy Andrews has given access she's alternately repelled and brought into the scientist and his creation. But since Adam exhibits behavior of anger and jealousy towards her, she finds herself entangled in a web of uncertainty where no one's motivations can easily be decipherable.
