In 1957, a boy and mum flee also an abusive boyfriend along with the East to find a new lifestyle, and wind up at Seattle, where the mum matches a considerate garage mechanic. By going out with the wrong crowd the boy gets into trouble. The mom danced the mechanic, but they soon learn that he's an alcoholic, and so they fight to maintain confidence as the boy grows up to flee the little town by any means possible. Based on a true story.
