Two instructors, man-hungry Doris as well as limited Marian, check out the Yorkshire moors a year after pal Evelyn went away there. On a stormy night, they take sanctuary in the isolated home of Stephen, one-time pianist shell-shocked in the Spanish Civil War. Doris gets away as soon as the flooding subsides; however Marian's suspicions concerning Evelyn's destiny, in conflict with her growing love for Stephen, punctual her to stay on amongst the hazy bogs.
