Jewel in the Palace
It tells the tale of an orphaned kitchen cook who moved on to eventually become the king's first female doctor. At a period when women held little influence in society, young apprentice cook Jang Geum tries to learn about the secrets of Korean cooking and medicine to be able to cure the King of their various disorders. It is centered on the real story of Jang-geum, the very first female royal physician of the Joseon Dynasty.
